About Me.

My elders taught me that learning is a lifelong journey, and so I'm enjoying the process.

​

As a UX designer with a passion for communication, my background in public speaking, advocacy, sales, and club activities has sharpened my ability to connect with people. Through these experiences, I've learned that effective communication isn't just about words—it’s about what people hear, what they see, AND what they feel. Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

 

In UX design, I get the opportunity to dive into different perspectives, study human behaviour, and create intuitive interfaces that bridge the gap between businesses and their audiences. However, if the greatest idea is presented badly, it can potentially become a missed opportunity, as the value might not be perceived. A director at Sky used this once to highlight the importance of clear communication, and I'm loving being able to use my skills to contribute to this process and also help others to upskill.

 

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with family and friends, praising my God, and staying active. I hope to join a running club soon, but hey, we'll see...

Be an expert

Data is king

"A great UX Designer isn't how well you can follow the double diamond, but how much of an expert you are in your industry, how can you know what the benchmark is or spot a niche if you don't know the industry and its players like the back of your hand" - A mentor

"Designing without real content or data is not problem-solving; it's fantasising" - Kim Goodwin - A mentor of mine gave me this and taught me to continually push, push and push for data because as we all know, without data you're another person with an opinion.

Learn from the best

I'm a big believer in learning from those around you, those that have more years of experience have more wins and losses and ultimately more learnings... a wise man learns from their mistakes but he also learns from the mistakes of others.
I want to be a wise man :) 

Zoom out, see the forest

You've always got to think about the entire engine that the company is, the eco-system. Use the design systems, layout grids and pattern libraries to maintain consistency. You can't see the forest through the trees... but also don't let that limit your creativity or make you stop pushing for greatness.

Preserve the student

A mentor of mine said to me "the best teachers are the best students and the best students are the best teachers." Trends, technological advancements, UX laws etc. will continue to evolve, and if you don't evolve with it then you're going to get left behind my man. Everyday is an opportunity to be better than I was yesterday.
